The Hermès and Nike Apple Watch 4 editions: Technology for Lifestylers lifestyle
Since it was founded in 1976, the American company, Apple, has been a pioneer in the invention of technology which has changed people’s lifestyles.
The Apple Watch smart watch, updated in 2018 to its 4 version, offers custom-made versions by Hermès and Nike for athletes and fashion enthusiasts.
Steve Jobs was just 21 when he founded Apple, alongside Steve Wonziak and Ronald Wayne in 1976. After Hewlett-Packard turned down the first personal computer prototype, the company went on to market Apple I, a microprocessor with a keyboard connection and monitor. Some years later, on May 6 in 1998, Apple’s interim CEO, Steve Jobs, unveiled the new iMac: a revolutionary computer whose launch coincided with the new commercial strategy developed by the company.
Since its inception, Apple has been characterised as a company capable of studying people’s lifestyles, offering solutions to improve them. Through research and technological innovation, this American company was able to change the way in which society accesses and enjoys music. The iPhone offered new ways of communicating through the Smartphone and mobile Internet; the iWatch is the new age of smart watchmaking.
In 2015, it became the most valuable company in the world according to the BrandZ index, reaching 247 billion euros in value. On August 3, 2018, according to The Wall Street Journal, the company became the first ever to achieve a market capitalization of one thousand billion dollars.
A computer at your fingertips
‘Reinvented to renew you’. It is the advertising slogan for the Apple Watch Series 4. Although it keeps the original design of the first version of the watch launched in 2015, this has been refined, combining a cutting-edge aesthetic with significant improvements in its hardware and software. The screen is 30% larger, and it is integrated into the box, which is thinner and smaller. Functionally, the new interface with the watchOS5 technology incorporates advanced physical activity and communication features and health-related functions. Apple’s new smart watch system is capable of detecting heavy falls by means of a new accelerometer and gyroscope, and its electric heart rate sensor allows electrocardiograms to be done if this is used with the ECG app.
“We love how the Apple Watch has become an essential part of people’s lives,” Jeff Williams said, Apple’s chief operations officer, said. With these new features, it has become an “intelligent health guardian”.
A design for each person
Apple has collaborated with international companies such as Nike and Hermès to create limited editions of its Apple Watch Series 4 adapted to each lifestyle. The Nike+ Smartwatch is specifically designed for athletes and runners. It incorporates the Nike Run Club application installed by default and has exclusive spheres and straps for this model. It includes analogues and digital spheres with the typefaces and the logo from the sport company; its straps are reflective and breathable as well.
The Apple Watch Hermès version, aimed at cosmopolitan people and fashion enthusiasts, is a more elegant design, with coloured straps and exclusive spheres which change colour as the minute hand moves. A successful collaboration between both companies to “offer people functional, elegant and creative objects for everyday life”, as the executive vice president and head of the artistic direction of Hermès, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, stated.
